How We Run
-
No Ranks
Nobody outranks anybody in the field. Any member can lead an op.
-
Pick Your Division
Survey, callsign Pinger, or Extraction, callsign Breaker. Change whenever you like, and take a seat in another division any time one is open.
-
No Scorekeeping
We don't track points, attendance, or contribution. Show up when you can, do the work you enjoy, and that's enough.
-
Learn In The Field
No courses, no qualifications. Take the seat and figure it out. Ships blow up, that's the game, just get a good clip of it.
A Typical Op
-
Op Posted
Dates are posted in the Discord at least a month ahead, with times in UTC, so you can plan around real life. Every seat is open to every member from the moment the order goes up.
-
Stage At T-15
Geared, fueled, and at staging fifteen minutes before departure. At T-0 we leave. Running late is fine, you meet the crew at the op location.
-
Find It, Work It
Survey finds and assesses the site and keeps overwatch. Extraction works it. While the crew is small, everyone scans, everyone extracts, everyone keeps watch.
-
Bring It Home
We operate lawfully. We never fire first, but we won't hesitate to defend ourselves. When trouble finds us, we protect the crew and the cargo, and that usually means getting out with both.
Divisions
Each division owns a stage of the operation. Two are open. The rest open as the crew and the game are ready for them.
-
Open
Survey Pinger
Find and assess sites, scout routes and staging areas, and keep overwatch during the op.
-
Open
Extraction Breaker
Work the site and extract the commodities.
-
Opens later
Logistics Lifter
Move cargo wherever it needs to go. Opens when extraction regularly produces more than the crew can carry.
-
Opens later
Medical Patcher
Keep the crew alive and get injured members home. Opens when a member picks it, so the first medic opens it.
-
Opens later
Fabrication Smelter
Refine materials, hold blueprints, and build gear. Opens when the org is regularly crafting from its own materials.
The full breakdown is in the charter, including what else opens as we grow.
Get In Early
Northstar is small by design. Membership is sized so every member has a real place on the crew in the roles they choose, and nobody becomes just another number.
Joining now means being part of the crew that opens the next division, turns the home port into a base on our own land when the game allows, and builds a name other orgs trust.
Common Questions
- Do I need a particular ship?
- No. Every member's fleet is different, and any ship might be just what an op needs. Bringing one is always your choice, and when you do, you set the rules aboard.
- I've never done industrial work before.
- That's fine. We learn from each other on every op. When something goes wrong, we laugh it off, figure out what happened, and adjust for next time.
- When do ops run?
- Op times are posted in UTC, at least a month ahead. Convert to your own time zone and grab a seat if it works for you.
- What language is spoken on comms?
- English.
- Do I have to make NSIC my main org?
- No. Join as your main org or as an affiliate, either works.
- Is this a roleplay org?
- Not really. We have a founding story, but the org isn't roleplay-heavy. We just like industrial work.
- How much do I have to play?
- As much as you like. We're people with jobs, families, and real lives, and those come first. Members are free to come and go as life allows.
- Is this a PvP org?
- No. We operate lawfully and never fire first. We'll defend ourselves, but the goal is always to get the crew and the cargo out.
- Do I have to pick a division straight away?
- Only if you want to. While we're small, nothing is closed to you either way, and you can change your pick anytime.
